THE BEAUTIFUL MANASBAL LAKE.

Though, its almost 6 month now that we left the J&K valley for our home in mumbai now , but truely speaking , I always feel myself too be to lucky to see the Valley from so close. This heavenly place will alway be very close to my heart .Had the opportunity to see almost 90%of the J&K Valley barring a few which i missed out , like GUREZ VALLEY, DACCHAN,SINTHAN PASS, PADDAR VALLEY, SARTHAL, MARWAH VALLEY andFew of the mesmerising high altitude lakes which involved lots of trekking to reach the locations out of the 5 HIDDEN LAKES OF KASHMIR; Anyways , today I would canvas THE MANASBAL LAKE.

MANASBAL LAKE is located between the river and foot of the mountains at Sopore,at the lower end of the SIND VALLEY. It is enclosed by a low hill, Aha-thung on one side and an elevated plateau on the there. Though ,only a mile or 2 in diameter,it is very very pretty,Because of its depth, it always has considerable clear water. The lake is a good place for bird watching as it is one of the largest natural stamping groundof aquatic birds in kashmir and has the sobriquet of "Supreme Gem of Kashmir Lakes"..

My Experience : We were on our return journey from Kargil . As we could cross the Zogilla Pass by noon , we thought to make it to both Manasbal & also Wular lake in Bandipora...... But unfortunately , while we were heading for Manasbal , we were informed about some incidents at Bandipore and had to drop the idea of visiting that place... We could only get the glimpses of Wular Lake from the hill road top ,onto Manasbal lake. As we reached Manasbal Lake , we were thrilled to see the beautiful garden by the lake.... The lake is full of Lotus plants ,making a picture perfect location . Locales & tourists having leisure in the shikaras in the waters of Manasbal.....Just couldn't spend too much time there as we wanted to visit Mata KHEER BHABANI SHRINE before heading for Srinagar....
